This is the test trail i've used for my kids First lake 22, then mt pilchuck, then mt dickerman, and then we are off to the races. Most national parks and areas also require leashes Lake 22 specifically is a dogs allowed on leash only designated area
Most national parks go even farther than just requiring leashes, most of them don't allow dogs on trail at all That being said, i'd totally believe that lake 22 is a leash area, it is super crowded, and a very easy hike. Lake 22 is a heavily populated trail but there are plenty of bears around mountain loop in general, especially this early in the season I've come across near tracks many times, and occasionally scat too.
