Some time back, when i first started making sausage, i purchased a kitchner 5 lb stuffer from northern tool

While posting and getting answers to my many questions, the concern about the nylon gears on the kitchner came up. The northern tool model states carbon steel so if i were going to buy this type, i would probably go with the kitchener The kitchener is also on sale right now for $99 which is $30 less for anyone interested I am certainly not a “brand name” seeker and didn’t even know about lem until i started researching.

I have been researching meat grinders of late Lem, carnivore, weston and tonight i stumbled upon the guide gear from northern tool Any of you folks got experience with this brand Looking at the #12 and not much in the way of reviews anywhere

Northern tool has a fair unit under $100 and sausage maker has a really decent one with metal gears for $149 All that being said, if you still want to pursue this path, i would suggest stripping the motor and belt reduction from a drill press or use the dc motor and power supply/control system from a treadmill. I have been putting family first and therefore putting off getting a grinder I have watched the kitchener at northern tool closely and recently noticed it is no longer available I hit the chat button and was told the vendor was noted unreliable, not sure if it means late delivery or no longer.

I have a meat grinder from northern tool and i put it in the dish washer to make sure it was good and clean after use and it come out of the dish washer black and it comes off on your hands

Not sure how to get it off and get it back to the silver it should be
