I cleaned up the end of the rack with simple green and shop towels, and bought a $8 bottle of lucas power steering rack leak stop I used 1/2 a bottle and it stopped the leak. My dad used the stop leak about 7 years ago in his 87 f250 power steering and it is still not leaking to this day So again how are they so bad
I understand that it may not fix his oozing rack, but might help others.
Power steering is a simple hydraulic in both the pump and the rack , and bar any no sha$%t leaks in hoses ,a stopleak is really gonna help/ virtually eliminate the typical drip/drop a week from 100kmi+ vehicles (thefro526) post by thefro526 » wed mar 05, 2008 3:06 pm so just for the record i replaced my power steering line and it worked fine There were still some minor leaks that no amount of tightening would fix
